For as the body is one and has many members, but all the members of that one body, being many, are one body, so also is Christ. 1 Corinthians 12:12
Notice the verse does not say, “so also is the body of Christ”. Christ is that body; and we, as the church, are Christ! Let the Spirit reveal this truth to you. Be careful – don’t hold the truth captive to the limitations of your mind. Pray now that He would give you the revelation of “so also is Christ”.
We spend a lot of time talking about our purpose and plans in regards to the things we do (or intend to). All these works, as good as they are, including our attempts to glorify God, are hay, stubble and filthy rags; unless they are done out of the One we are created to be: namely, Christ (the Anointed One).
Fortunately, the Father sees from the beginning to the end; and considers us on the basis of what we have committed to be. Though we are not yet perfected, we are the light of the world; and we are called to let our light so shine before men that they will see our good works and glorify our Father in heaven (Matthew 5:16). All that we do must begin, and be motivated by, our desire to be unified into Christ.
What are you doing to “be Christ”? What are you doing to help others “be Christ” with you? Independence is a spirit of the Antichrist (1 John 4:3).
Dear God, reveal your Son is us; for Your glory and His praise. Lord, we humble ourselves and choose to lose our lives for Yours. Holy Spirit, come lead us into the fullness of the stature of Christ. Amen.
