Dear Adventurers, 

As you may have guessed, the primary purpose of this blog is to chronicle the adventure of forming a ministry – namely, inLight Consulting – and the lessons I have learned along the way.  I didn’t really think much about the word adventure when we launched the site; it just seemed right.  If you had asked me, I probably would have said that an adventure is “an exciting journey”.  Boy, was I naïve! 

Early in our formation, adventure became a combination of “exciting” and “scary”; and many times more of the latter – not really something I was expecting.  At other times, it has meant “test”, “trial” or “tribulation”.  You se, in the past 12 months, the word adventure has taken on a richer, more dynamic, meaning; and a more dangerous tone.  More like climbing a mountain than walking in the woods.  More like a battle than a fishing trip.

What does “adventure” mean to you? 

Through my exciting, scary, testing, trial and tribulation of a journey, I have also learned that “adventure” is more than just a descriptive word; it is what every child of God is called to experience…all the time.  How we experience it depends on our relationship with the Lord – particularly our faith and obedience.  Adventures for the child of God are wild and unpredictable.  Like God, they are not safe, but they are good.  I can’t seem to control them, or estimate what the next step will be.  Proverbs 16:9 tells us, “A man’s heart plans his way, but the LORD directs his steps.”  I wouldn’t have it any other way.

So, now let me tell you what the Lord has been doing recently in the inLight Adventure:

• Branding and Logo development is complete.  Our website design is complete and development has begun (our target for completion is the end of March).
• We have doubled the wisdom and blessing of our Board through the addition of three new Directors.
• The Ministry Model and Teaching Syllabus have been finalized.
• We have begun rolling out our ministry model to the Marketplace Leaders in Haralson County, Georgia.  Two have tentatively committed to take a team through our transformation process.  We are continuing to work with the Transformation Core Team and Intercessory Prayer Network, to develop relationships with leaders and pastors, and to support the Pastor’s Prayer Lunch.
• In Carroll County, we are building a relationship with the International House of Prayer that is forming there.  We have offered to fund the production of marketing materials.  Our expectation is that IHOP-Carrollton will develop a strong connection with the Intercessory Prayer Network in Haralson County.
• In Gwinnett County, the Lord has connected us with a woman who wants to turn her health club into a focal point of ministry to families in the surrounding area.  She sees the club members as her congregation and the local Middle and High School as her mission field.  She is excited about the prospect of taking a team through our process.
• In Douglas County, we are exploring the possibility of helping a single parent reestablish her ministry to at risk families; by taking her future board through our process.

The Lord has been gracious in upholding this ministry’s finances.  We are committed to His direction to offer our services free of charge.  This gives us the liberty to pursue the Lord’s direction – not the next consulting opportunity.  We trust the Lord to provide in accordance with 2 Corinthians 9:8.  We are dependent on Him to release the abundance through ministry partners that share our vision for the Lord’s command in Matthew 5:16 and His prayer in John 17:20-23.

As the Lord continues to direct this adventure, we will step boldly out into His plan; shouting His praises as we go.  We are tremendously blessed by all who are partnering with us.  We pray you are experiencing the excitement of your own adventure.  Please continue to pray for His wisdom and revelation; and for those Marketplace Leaders that are called to further His kingdom.
