Problems with Our Doctrines – Part Six

If God does not intervene with an undeniable call to reformation, he will nevertheless intervene with inexplicable wrath and judgment (A. W. Tozer). Problems with Our Doctrines – Part Five

Mankind was not created to live from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil – from reasoning with our minds about the right and wrong of things. Those determinations belong to God. Importantly, our doctrines are kept and considered in the mind, and operating from our minds is a particularly tricky thing in the Age of Enlightenment and Reason. Yes, doctrines can tell us what we should believe, but they are not faith, nor are they the spiritual organ of faith.

Problems with Our Doctrines – Part Four

The vast majority of my clients have struggled to venture outside their perceived doctrinal boxes for fear of falling into some form of heresy. They simply did not know to trust their Teachers – the Holy Spirit and Jesus Christ – to guide them. Problems with Our Doctrines – Part Two

From Artificial Intelligence to Biblical Wisdom – A Spectrum of Gaps

These findings, and more like them, point to one critical and missing ingredient: wisdom. In fifteen short years (of social media platforms on smart phones), humankind has proven it lacks the wisdom to safely implement agentic Digital Technology. #iamjustthepen #inLightConsulting

Mitigating the Damage of Our Distracted Minds and Hearts

Those of us with the wisdom, courage, and wherewithal to mitigate the damage must step into the breech, set about freeing the prisoners, begin the triage process, and create space for some measure of recovery. Of course, such heroic exploits assume a fully capable fighting force. That force will have minds and hearts free of distraction, with full attention on the task at hand and on the One Who called them to it.

We Become What We Give Our Attention To

Humans have always had a symbiotic relationship with technology. Most everything we create has some reciprocal effect on our lives. The printing press, tractor, and automobile are three great examples. But something has gone seriously wrong in the digital age! Our relationship with technology has become toxic.

Spiritual Maturity Requires Specific Subtraction

Learning new things often requires us to unlearn or let go of the old. The same is true for our maturity as Christians. Growing spiritually is not simply a matter of adding new information or things to do. In fact, God has gone to great lengths to help us understand that maturing spiritually begins, continues, and ends in the death of ourselves.
