Friend or Foe?

My Dear Brothers and Sisters,

I hope you are all hungering to hear from the Lord.  He is up to something, and is looking for those that will respond to His instruction.  Sometimes His answers are heavy and convicting…but they are good for the soul.  The following is an example, from my time with the Him this morning.  I am sure most of it was directed at me, but some of it seems to be for the church.  I don’t want to push my issues on someone else, so listen to the Holy Spirit as you read.  Let me know what you think.

Why are you not afraid – no, terrified – of touching the things of your world?

You don’t just touch them, you hold on to them like they are your life and security.

You cannot start the day without checking with the TV or newspaper to see what’s happening in the world.  How about checking with Me?  Don’t I know?

Why is it taking so long for you to get outside the camp – out to Me, bearing My reproach (Hebrews 13:13)?

“But, Lord, You told us to be careful to count the cost.”

Yes, but why is it taking you so long to do the math?  How can you know even a little of My love, and not know that I am worth it all?  Why must you be continually convinced that following Me is worth giving up ALL that you have?

What is more important, your son playing baseball and doing well in school, or your family knowing, trusting, and obeying the One that can condemn their souls?

A mighty, evil spell has been cast upon you…sometimes by those closest to you (“the wise save for a rainy day and carry plenty of life insurance”).  Sometimes you cast the spell on yourself (“How do I know He will take care of me, if I…”).  The American Dream has you under her spell.

Are you not the church (ekklesia, the called out ones)?  Are you not saints of God (hagioi, holy people)?  Have you not been sanctified (hagiasmos, set apart for a purpose)?

How can you be so blind to the truth?  Or do you just conveniently turn your eye from it at appropriate times of the day?  You are making choices more often than you want to recognize.  You are such an excuse making generation.

I don’t have to tell you the truth…if you are one of the Father’s children.  Well, maybe a reminder:

Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity (hostile, hating) with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.  James 4:4

Practice the presence of God.

He is!!!

Convicted before you,

Rob
