We are keeping this edition of the newsletter short to emphasize the importance of the encouragement contained therein. My prayer for you: that you would hold what you read long enough for it to resonate in your heart – to stir a desire for something more that the LORD wants to give you (Psalm 37:4). My hope for you: that you will embrace the desire of your heart and the LORD’s encouragement to pursue it. My petition to you: a response, if appropriate, to one of the concluding questions.
Sitting in Heaven… for Greater Works
But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. Ephesians 2:6
As sons and daughters of God, we enjoy a position of strength we barely and rarely exercise. Consequently, we dissuade the same in those we are discipling and those who are otherwise watching us.
Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father. John 14:12
Our failure as Christians to understand and lay hold of the empowering grace offered by God should not be construed as a valid excuse for neglecting to pursue its full potential; it (our failure) only makes reaching God’s greatest potential more difficult. This is true for both individuals and fellowships.
Please, please, please, do not allow the enemies of God and your soul to deceive you into thinking these promises and expectation are not for you. “He who believes in Me… will do.”
Moreover, we know this is not sweet-by-and-by hopefulness. He made this clear to His disciples:
So Jesus said to them again, “Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you. John 20:21
As impossible as it may seem – particularly in these dark times – we can do all things through Christ (Philippians 4:13). As the Narnia beavers said, “Aslan is on the move!” Let’s not miss Him.
Here are promised concluding questions for your consideration:
- Are you struggling to believe these assertions too good to be true for you?
- Are these interpretations outside your doctrinal box?
- Are you struggling to put your finger on the desire of your heart for this chaotic season?
- Are you looking for a group of Christians to commune/platoon with?
- Do you want to search out these matters further, but don’t know where to begin?
If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, I hope you will seriously consider connecting with me and others who undoubtedly feel and believe as you do.
Again, I strongly encourage you to hold on to this until the LORD stirs something in your heart. When that happens, shoot me an email (rob@inlightconsulting.com), give me a call (770.367.7612), or send me a text (same number).
In the meantime, God bless you with a word for the faith to lay hold of the grace He has stored up for you.
Have a strong day in the Lord,
Rob
