Apostolic Prayers for Friend or Family Member

Ephesians 1:15-23 (NKJV):

Therefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints, do not cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers: That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding^[c] being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come. And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.

The Prayer

Heavenly Father, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, I thank You for ________________. God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, I pray that You would give ________________ the spirit of (i.e., strong desire for) of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of You. May the eyes of ____________‘s understanding be enlightened; that she may know what is the hope of Your calling on her life, what are the riches of the glory of Your inheritance in her (her value to You), and what is the exceeding greatness of Your power toward her. I intercede for ____________ according to the working of Your mighty power – the same power You worked in Christ when You raised Him from the dead and seated Him at Your right hand. Amen.

Lord Jesus, I submit to your reign in my life and my relationship with ________________. As her ________________, I pray that you would do what’s necessary to firmly establish your reign in her heart. Amen

Ephesians 3:14-21 (NKJV):

For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height— to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.

The Prayer

Philippians 1:3-11 (NKJV):

I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine making request for you all with joy, for your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ; just as it is right for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart, inasmuch as both in my chains and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel, you all are partakers with me of grace. For God is my witness, how greatly I long for you all with the affection of Jesus Christ.
And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment, that you may approve the things that are excellent, that you may be sincere and without offense till the day of Christ, being filled with the fruits of righteousness which are by Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.

The Prayer

Father God, in the name of Jesus, the Christ, I thank you with joy for ________________; and my fellowship with her as her ________________, and sister in Christ. I pray, in confident belief, that You will complete the good work You have begun in her. You know ________________‘s place in my heart; and the blessing of knowing that she is a fellow partaker of Your grace – a dearly beloved sister/brother in Christ.
I pray that ________________‘s love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment, that ________________ may approve the things that are excellent, that she may be sincere and without offense till the day of Christ, and that she would be filled with the fruits of righteousness which are by Jesus Christ, to Your glory and praise. Amen.

Colossians 1:3-14 (NKJV):

We give thanks to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you, since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of your love for all the saints; because of the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, of which you heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel, which has come to you, as it has also in all the world, and is bringing forth fruit, as it is also among you since the day you heard and knew the grace of God in truth; …For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy; giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light. He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.

The Prayer

God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, I thank You for ________________, for her faith in Christ Jesus, and for her love for all the saints. I thank You for the hope which You have laid up for ________________ in heaven, and for the word of the truth of the gospel that You have planted in her heart. I thank You for the fruit and grace that is evident in ________________‘s life. For this reason I ask that ________________ be filled with the knowledge of Your will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; that ________________ may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of You; that ________________ would be strengthened with all might, according to Your glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy; that ________________ would give thanks to You who has qualified her to be a partaker of the inheritance of the saints in the light. I praise You for delivering ________________ from the power of darkness and conveying her into Your Son’s kingdom, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins. Amen.
