“Almost 19,000 children have been sexually groomed in England in the past year, according to official figures that have prompted warnings of an ‘epidemic’. Campaigners say the true number is far higher…” – The Independent, December 2019 (“Sexually groomed” is the politically correct phrase for abducted and raped multiple times by gangs of men).
This is what the Bible calls wickedness and evil. Satan is not to blame (James 4:7); neither is the world (Galatians 6:14). This is the depravity of mankind. This is carnality, the product of mankind left to their own reign and control. This is what Jesus Christ came to die for, to redeem.
I am reminded how much of a bubble I live in. And for that I am grateful; I have not experienced this kind of evil. I am also remorseful and concerned, for my senses have been dulled and mostly blinded to the evils of mankind.
Consequently, I have underestimated and undervalued what the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit have done and are doing to restore what they lost in mankind’s rebellion. I have undervalued and underestimated what they desire to do through me and my brethren. And I recognize how incompetent, how insufficient I am for even the smallest part of this endeavor. It is imperative that I become a vessel and instrument of God’s grace.
As far as I know right now, God has not called me to rescue exploited children (as much as I would like to). He has not called me to punish the men and women that exploit them (again, as much as I would like to).
But I have been called – and will be called still further – to walk in God’s good works as a vessel and instrument of righteousness. His grace is sufficient (2Corinthians 3:5-6; 12:9), if I will choose to listen and obey. Otherwise, I am left with remorse and concern, stuck in my bubble, missing the adventure and pleasure of my Lord.
If you desire to walk in the adventure God has created for you, I would like to do my part to get you there. If you know of someone else who is looking to become God’s vessel and instrument, I would like to help them. I believe that is what God has called me to walk in.
Ministry Update and Prayer Requests
- The chaos that has arisen from the pandemic has provided subject matter for the inLight Adventure blog. I hope you are taking advantage of this resource. God is speaking to the church; I am blessed to be His pen.
- This coming Monday, we will begin a social media promotion campaign for An Enemy Lies Within. This is one of the three promotion strategies we have planned for the book. The other requires face-to-face contact with church and business leaders and has therefore been put on hold. I hope you will pray about helping us with the third strategy. We are asking our supporters to purchase 10 or more books and give them to friends, family, and the leaders they know. If you are willing to consider this, let me know and I will send you a complimentary copy. We believe this to be the best strategy for getting An Enemy Lies Within into the hands of those God will use to lead the restoration and reformation of the Western Church.
- I am really excited to report that I have one more class before graduation. At the end of June, I will receive a Bachelor of Science degree in Not-for-Profit Leadership from Huntington University. Recently, God made it clear that I was simply going to have to wait to understand His full intention in this endeavor.
- Our work with 2:2 Collective continues, though it too is limited by the pandemic. However, there are two significant accomplishments to report. First, we are now a prayer campus for the College of Prayer International. This positions us to serve the Body of Christ through the use of our facilities while fostering unity. Secondly, we have a third church fellowship that plans to join us when their current lease expires in September. We continue to covet your prayers for additional partners and leaders.
- As most of you know, I have had to limit my one-on-one discipling and group teaching to give attention to the school adventure. That will change beginning in July/August. So, I am giving you a heads-up now in case you are interested in either opportunity (or something else the Lord leads you to).
While it is amazing to realize that inLight has been around for almost fifteen years, it feels like we are just getting started. The crisis we are experiencing will not go away soon and it will leave a dramatic impact on the world and the church. Consequently, I have never been more hopeful for the Western Church and our work towards its restoration and reformation. God is now preparing us for a season of opportunity that we cannot yet imagine. Please let me know how I can help you participate in the good work God has created for you to walk in.
