…and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. Matthew 7:25

From the back cover of our soon to be released book, The Storms Have Only Just Begun:

Christ and the New Testament writers have commanded and instructed the Church to prepare our families and fellowships for the inevitable storms of this life – storms of chaos, affliction, and persecution.

Have we made the necessary preparations? Do we know what God desires and Jesus commands?

Do we recognize these storms for what they are – spiritual battles we cannot avoid?

Is our house founded on the rock of our obedience to the commands of Jesus Christ?

Rob Streetman encourages the Church to abide in Christ and embrace the responsibilities and opportunities entrusted to the inhabitants of strong houses: providing refuge, encouragement, and truth to those who have lost theirs.

God’s purpose and desire for The Storms Have Only Just Begun is the ultimate perfecting of our houses, for His glory and kingdom!

One of the strongest desires of my heart is to see Christians join God in the inspection and restoration of their proverbial “houses”, that they might abide there with Him as refuge, encouragement, and truth for others. Consequently, I’ve spent a lot of time over the last eighteen months thinking about this endeavor, for myself and those I love.

Chaos Navigation Tips

Recently, I felt encouraged to put together a list of “Chaos Survival Tips”. I thought it would be a short list. Twenty “tips” came quickly to mind. For brevity’s sake, they are listed in short form (and in no particular order, except the last). I trust you will search out the ones that resonate with your heart. Feel free to reach out to me with questions and comments.

  1. Chaos is normal. God uses it to mature us spiritually (2Corinthians 3:18).
  2. Houses will fall; you will be glad you allowed God’s inspection and restoration now (Matthew 7:21-23).
  3. There is no better time to make disciples than when people are threatened by, or suffering from, chaos and storms.
  4. Lawlessness will continue to increase (2Thessalonians 2:7-12).
  5. Biblical community – deeper than you now enjoy – is critical.
  6. God has a way for everything – including the navigation of chaos and storms.
  7. Become more suspicious of your carnal mind; break the habit of turning to your carnal mind when threatened. Take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ (2 Corinthians 10:4-6).
  8. Live Not by Lies; the truth will make you free.
  9. Double down on the disciplines of our faith – particularly prayer and meditation on God’s words to you (Romans 10:17).
  10. Ensure you rightly and fully understand and believe the foundational truths of the Faith.
  11. Salvation is a process; endure to the end (Matthew 10:22).
  12. Holiness is possible and expected; fight rigorously against conformity with the world (Romans 12:2).
  13. Discover the desire of your heart and the same in those entrusted to your care (Psalm 37:4-6).
  14. Stive to enter (Luke 13:24); be diligent to add to your faith (2Peter 1:5-11).
  15. Be a good soldier, careful not to entangle yourself with worldly matters (2Timothy 2:3-4).
  16. Embrace the pain; rejoice in all circumstances. Supernatural peace will come (Philippians 4:4-7).
  17. Exercise the authority you have been given as God’s ambassador (2 Corinthians 5:20).
  18. Anticipate the supernatural power God has toward those who believe (Ephesians 1:19-21).
  19. Invoke the Apostolic Prayers for yourself and those entrusted to your care.
  20. Last, and most important, learn to love sacrificially (1peter 4:8).

God has promised grace, through faith, for each of these “tips”. Prepare yourself, and when those in need come “knocking” at your proverbial “door”, you will experience God move on their behalf in profound and dynamic ways. Preparation begins with humility before God, asking for His encouragement and instruction, and then responding as the Holy Spirit leads.

God bless you with courage and wisdom for the storms that have only just begun.

Humbly yours and forever His,

Rob

Updates and Prayer Requests

Our prayer needs have not changed since the last newsletter, and so we encourage you to persevere in your intersession for us.

We are pleased to announce that the relaunch strategy for our core mission – helping Christian leaders find joyful, Spirit-filled ministry – has come into focus. There are three parts.

  1. I will be joining the Atlanta area leadership team for Christian Business Men’s Connection (CBMC) to help develop Trusted Advisor Forum (TAF) teams and expose CBMC and its members to the process God has given inLight for discipling workplace leaders.
  2. We hope to develop a hybrid TAF model for use in a local Christian school, with couples, and/or with Christian leaders in West-Central Georgia (our local mission field).
  3. I will continue being God’s pen as long as He desires.

We covet your prayers for grace and courage to hear God’s perfect plan and pursue His purposes for this season with supernatural passion.

We have settled on a publisher for The Storms Have Only Just Begun. This, our fourth book, encourages and enables Christians to inspect and restore their houses, navigate the chaos of the 2020s, and help others do the same. Please pray about contributing to the cost of this endeavor.

My heart continues to ache for our persecuted brothers and sisters around the world. Please pray with me for their encouragement, protection, and faithfulness in the face of severe trial and tribulation. From my reading, I understand they are also praying for us.

Continue to pray for the workplace leaders you know – for their transformation into mighty men and women of God; that they would boldly proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ. Let me know how I can help you minister to them (we have tons of resources for you to share).

Know that your prayers have been effectual the last fifteen years of ministry here at inLight. A close friend has said (more than once) that God is still preparing us for the good work that will glorify Him. Please keep praying for us as the Holy Spirit leads you.

Partnering with inLight Consulting

God’s purpose for inLight Consulting is beyond human capability. We are desperately dependent on Him; and would have it no other way. We are grateful for the continued support of those that trust God to use this ministry to further His kingdom. Please pray for our vision and mission.

Share the truths you find here with the leaders in your life; it will make them free.

God bless you with wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him; and may He give you the grace and courage to walk in the work He has prepared for you.

Humbly yours and forever His,

Rob
